Form 16 is a certificate given by the employer showing salary paid and tax deducted during the year, and it's an important document for filing income tax returns. Form 16 has two parts — one shows tax deposit details, and the other shows salary and deduction details. Employers must issue Form 16 to employees by June 15th every year. Form 16 is also commonly asked for during loan or visa applications as proof of income.

Definitions are general guidance. Your organisation's policies and applicable local requirements determine how a term is used in practice.
