LWF (Labour Welfare Fund)

In simple words: The Labour Welfare Fund is a small amount collected from both the employee and the employer, which goes to a state fund for workers’ welfare. It’s usually a very small contribution.

Example: In a state where LWF applies, ₹10 might be deducted from an employee’s salary and a larger amount paid by the employer, once or twice a year.

Why it matters: The rates, the months and even whether it applies depend on the state. A company with offices in more than one state needs to track each location’s rules.

Common mistake: Applying one state’s LWF rules to every location.

Definitions are general guidance. Your organisation's policies and applicable local requirements determine how a term is used in practice.
