LOP (Loss of Pay)

In simple words: LOP means an employee isn’t paid for the days they didn’t work and had no leave left to cover. Those days are simply cut from the salary.

Example: Suresh earns ₹30,000 a month. If the company counts 30 days in the month, one day’s pay is ₹1,000. He takes 2 days off with no leave balance, so ₹2,000 is deducted.

Why it matters: The way a company counts “one day’s pay” can differ, such as 30 days or the actual days in that month. A clear policy avoids arguments on salary day.
